Foster Creek Preserve is located in Columbus, North Carolina, about 45 minutes south of Asheville and near Tryon—a quaint, rural North Carolina community with many expensive horse farms. Situated near major high-speed highways, the city is equidistant from Asheville, Greenville, and Spartanburg (South Carolina), and Charlotte is just 90 minutes away. Atlanta can be accessed via a five-hour drive from the project. Polk County has over 11,500 housing units with a home-ownership rate of approximately 79%.

The mountains of western North Carolina serve as an attractive destination for upscale retirees and second homeowners. Primary housing demand may also be served from the Greenville and Asheville areas. The climate of this area is considerably milder than the remainder of the South, and the scenery is spectacular.
